What date is 10 days from today?

Count 10 calendar days forward with today as day 0: tomorrow is day 1, and the date 10 days from today is day 10. Weekends and holidays count like any other day. That is how DateMath works out when 10 days from today is, and how a date “in 10 days” is usually meant.

Because 10 days is 1 week, 3 days, the weekday moves on by the days left over after the whole weeks. From a Monday, 10 days later is a Thursday; from a Thursday, a Sunday. So the weekday 10 days from today follows from today's weekday alone; the date needs today's date, which the answer card reads from your device.

Counting 10 days by hand

Add 10 to today's day of the month, then take away the length of each month you pass. For example, from Friday, January 15, 2027: 15 + 10 = 25, still in January: Monday, January 25, 2027.

10 days ago from today (10 days back)

10 days ago is today's date minus 10 days, and it falls 3 days earlier in the week than today: 10 days before a Monday was a Friday. The answer card above shows the date. It counts today as the end of the span, so a period that ends today and started 10 days ago has 11 days when both the first day and today count.

For example, 10 days before Friday, January 15, 2027 was Tuesday, January 5, 2027. Use the date calculator to count back from any other date.

10 business days from today (working days)

10 business days from today is 10 weekdays from tomorrow, without the 11 annual US federal holidays on the days they are observed; today itself doesn't count, the way Excel's WORKDAY counts. It is under the answer above, with the federal holidays it skips listed below it. 10 calendar days from today is the main answer.

Without holidays, where 10 business days land depends only on today's weekday. Each federal holiday it skips moves the date one business day later.

How DateMath counts 10 days from today

DateMath takes today's date from your device and adds the days as calendar days, weekends and holidays included: tomorrow is 1 day from today, so today itself is day 0. A week is always 7 days, so a number of days that divides by 7 lands on today's weekday. The business-day date counts only Monday to Friday, skips the US federal holidays on their observed dates and doesn't count today, like Excel's WORKDAY.

  • The Gregorian calendar. DateMath treats every date as a Gregorian date, with its leap-year rule: a year divisible by 4 is a leap year, except century years not divisible by 400, so 2000 had a February 29 and 2100 will not. Source: Gregorian calendar.
  • US federal holidays. DateMath skips the 11 annual holidays of 5 U.S.C. 6103 on the days they are observed for federal employees, as the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) lists them: a Saturday holiday on the Friday before, a Sunday holiday on the Monday after. Source: 5 U.S.C. 6103, OPM federal holidays.

DateMath's date math is tested against more than 100 cases worked out by hand. Every worked example and table on the site is computed with the same code the calculators run, so a page and its calculator can't disagree.
